手彫り · The Craft

Ink as inheritance.

手彫り

Tebori

Hand-carving with a sashibo — ink worked into the skin with a digging motion, no electricity, no automation. The technique of the horishi, passed through strict apprenticeship.

Sumi Ink

Ink ground by hand from sumi sticks, diluted to achieve the hikui gradients — the shimmer from solid black through silver-grey that takes years to master.

構成

Composition

Every motif flows with muscle lines and bone structure. Nothing is placed arbitrarily — the body is the canvas and its anatomy determines the design.

"The horishi does not decorate the body — they reveal the mythology that was always living inside it."

Completed Japanese back tattoo showing detailed dragon and peony composition, healed and photographed in studio lighting
Tebori

Richer color, less trauma, deeper ink saturation. Work that matures with the skin.

Machine

Used for outlines where precision and speed serve the composition.

Mythological
narratives.

Organized by iconography, not body part. Each piece is a chapter in an ongoing mythology.

Fudo Myoo deity back tattoo with flames and sword, powerful Japanese Buddhist iconography
Buddhist Deities

Fudo Myoo

不動明王

Back piece — the immovable wisdom king, sword of fire, rope of salvation.

28 sessions · 18 months
Iconography

Fudo Myoo is the fierce protector who destroys ignorance and purifies the mind. His flames burn away delusion; his rope binds the demons within.

Traditional Japanese Oni mask tattoo on thigh with chrysanthemum and maple leaves, bold black and red
Oni

Oni Mask

Thigh piece — Oni with chrysanthemum and autumn maple, the demon as guardian.

6 sessions · 4 months
Iconography

The Oni serves as protector as much as destroyer. Wearing the demon keeps lesser spirits away — to bear its image is to claim its power.

Oni

Hannya & Serpent

般若と蛇

Sleeve — the jealous woman transformed, coiled with white serpent and wisteria.

18 sessions · 11 months
Iconography

Hannya represents the madness of a woman consumed by jealousy and obsession. The serpent coiled around her signifies the transformation into something beyond human grief.
